Her father, businessman Maruthi Rao, orchestrated the murder by hiring a killer. Amrutha filed a case against her father, accusing him of her husband's murder. During the ongoing trial, Maruthi Rao committed suicide in Arya Vysya Bhavan, Hyderabad.
