AP Minister Nara Lokesh Apologizes for Police Actions During Naidu's Visit

Andhra Pradesh Minister and TDP General Secretary, Nara Lokesh, issued an apology over an unexpected incident that occurred in the state. The apology was directed at the CPI (M) party following an incident during former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's visit to Anantapur district. Lokesh criticized the police for behaving as they did under the previous administration, indirectly taking a jab at former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

What Happened?

During the NTR Bharosa Pension distribution event, Chandrababu Naidu visited Anantapur district, particularly the Gundamala village in the Madakasira constituency. As a precaution, the police detained CPI (M) leaders, leading to house arrests and preemptive arrests, which the CPI (M) party condemned. In response, Lokesh issued an apology through a statement on his 'X' platform.

Lokesh's Apology Statement:

  • Apology to Comrades: Lokesh asked for forgiveness from CPI (M) comrades, emphasizing that the alliance government is against preemptive arrests and house arrests. Despite the fall of the previous government five years ago, some police officers have not changed their behavior.

  • Condemnation of Undemocratic Arrests: Lokesh assured that such undemocratic arrests will not be repeated, stating that the government will protect the right to question and protest democratically.

  • Call for Police Action: Lokesh urged police department heads to ensure that incidents of preemptive arrests and house arrests do not recur, maintaining democratic rights for opposition and public organizations.

Successful Pension Distribution:

  • Statewide Distribution: Pension distribution across Andhra Pradesh has been successful, with the goal of completing 100% distribution by the first of the month.

  • Chandrababu's Visit: CM Chandrababu Naidu visited the Madakasira constituency's Gundamala village to personally distribute pension funds to beneficiaries.

  • Widespread Participation: Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, other public representatives, and TDP leaders actively participated in the distribution process.
