A recent survey conducted by Local Circles on the occasion of World Sleep Day has revealed that in the last two years, many citizens are facing problems in getting even 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep a day.
According to the survey, 61 percent of Indians got less than 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night in the last 12 months, while 38 percent got 4 to 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. About 23 percent of them citizens do not sleep up to 4 hours. But 50 percent of people sleep less than 6 hours a day. What is most alarming about the survey is that the percentage of Indian citizens who sleep less than 6 hours daily has increased from 50 percent in 2022 to 55 percent in 2023 when compared to earlier surveys. According to the survey, the number of respondents with sleep deprivation complaints will continue to increase to 61 percent in 2024. 72 percent of respondents said they wake up to use the washroom one or more times during their sleep. Undisturbed sleep can range from mental health issues to physical health issues. And about 72 percent used the washroom once or more during their sleep. About 43 percent of people in the survey said that they take too much time to sleep and avoid household activities early in the morning. 26 percent of people surveyed noted that their sleep quality has deteriorated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
