Congress Unveils Promises Ahead of Elections: A Manifesto of Guarantees

As election fever heats up across India, national parties have started rolling out their manifestos, making bold promises to woo voters. The Congress Party, eager to set the stage, has launched its comprehensive manifesto, brimming with guarantees aimed at various sectors of society. This move is seen as a strategic attempt to counter the growing influence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party's promises.

The Congress manifesto, released amidst much fanfare by party leaders including President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, spans 48 pages and is filled with colorful assurances to the public. Among the highlights are significant reductions in fuel prices, the creation of 30 lakh jobs for the youth, and education loan waivers. Rahul Gandhi has been actively promoting these promises through his Bharat Jodo Yatra, ensuring that the manifesto reaches every corner of the country.

The party's manifesto is especially focused on lifting 23 crore people out of poverty, drawing a clear line between their agenda and what they claim to be the BJP's manifesto tailored for the wealthy, hinting at industrialists like Ambani and Adani. Rahul Gandhi emphasized that their manifesto is for the common man, promising nationwide distribution of "Congress Guarantee cards."

Key proposals include lifting the 50% cap on reservations, scrapping the Agniveer scheme, halting railway privatization, and reinstating statehood for Jammu and Kashmir. The party also vows to investigate controversies such as electoral bonds and the Pegasus scandal, only if they come to power with Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister.

However, the manifesto's future hangs in the balance as the concept of a united opposition candidate emerges, particularly in states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where alliances between Congress and left-wing parties are still uncertain. This situation has sparked intriguing discussions nationwide about the potential impact and feasibility of Congress's ambitious promises.
