Ayurvedic doctors call the Galijera plant a treasure trove of medicine. In Ayurveda, this plant is known as Punarnava. Our Indian Ayurvedic science uses this plant in various ways, treating numerous ailments. There are two types of Galijera: White Galijera and Red Galijera. The plant with white flowers is called White Galijera, and the one with red flowers is called Red Galijera. This ground-covering plant has round leaves, about the size of a fifty-paise coin. Although both varieties have similar medicinal properties, White Galijera is considered superior. In short, it can rejuvenate every cell in the body, hence the name ‘Punarnava’. This leafy green is rich in antioxidants. Its Vitamin C and D content helps reduce urinary tract infections. It is also abundant in calcium and works wonders for kidney problems.
