Enforcement Directorate arrested MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha in Delhi liquor scam. This is an unexpected development. MLC Kavitha went to the Supreme Court countering the ED's notices to appear for investigation. The petition is still pending. But before this, ED officials directly came to Kavitha's house in Hyderabad.
After a brief interrogation, the arrest was announced at 5.20 pm on Friday. In fact, the ED gave a statement during the hearing of Kavita's petition in the Supreme Court. ED clearly told Supreme Court that no legal action will be taken against Kavitha. MLC Kavitha is the same. But, the ED officials said that they are withdrawing the undertaking given to the Supreme Court. Undertaking means saying that we will not take any legal action against Kavitha..! However, the Supreme Court advocate Mohit Rao argued that the Supreme Court did not agree to take back the undertaking given by the ED. Lawyer Mohit Rao also sent a letter to MLC Kavitha informing about the same. But before the letter reached Kavitha, ED officials came to Kavitha's house. The ED officials came with a search warrant and an arrest warrant from the Delhi court. As part of the planned plan, Kavitha was arrested and taken to Delhi. Earlier, MLC Kavitha filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the issuance of ED notices in the Delhi liquor scam. The petition came up for hearing a few hours before Kavitha's arrest. However, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing on this petition to March 19. On Friday, while the investigation was going on in the Supreme Court, the ED officials reached Kavita's residence. Inspections were carried out from noon. ED officials seized 16 phones in the house along with Kavitha's phones. However, the officials explained to Kavitha that they came with an arrest warrant, despite the ED officials arguing that they do not have any powers to take legal action against him. They also informed the family members that they are arresting Kavitha. It was explained to the family members that flight tickets were also booked to take them to Delhi immediately after the arrest. That is.. Knowing that the trial is pending in the court, the ED officials came up with the procedure to interrogate Kavitha through the court.
