Major Twist in the Delhi Liquor Scam Case: Hard Times Ahead!

In a significant development in the Delhi liquor scam case, the Rouse Avenue Court has granted the CBI permission to interrogate BRS MLC Kavitha, who is currently under arrest and held in Tihar Jail, under judicial custody. This decision comes ahead of the verdict on Kavitha's bail petition, set for Monday, stirring up considerable interest. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which arrested Kavitha in connection with the case, had previously interrogated her over ten days in their custody. Following this, the court had ordered judicial custody, which is due to end on Tuesday.

The CBI, seeking to interrogate Kavitha while she remains in judicial custody, filed a petition in the Rouse Avenue Court on Friday, arguing that her role was crucial in the Delhi liquor policy case and that further interrogation could shed light on additional aspects of the case. The agency had already interrogated Kavitha and gathered primary evidence related to the case. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court has clarified that permission has been granted for the CBI to interrogate Kavitha in judicial custody and to record her statement under specific conditions, including notifying Tihar Jail authorities a day in advance and ensuring the presence of female constables during the interrogation.

This move paves the way for CBI officials to interrogate Kavitha in the coming week. However, the anticipation builds over the decision on her interim bail petition set for Monday. The outcome of the bail petition could either grant her release or lead to further legal challenges, including the possibility of re-arrest by the CBI. If the bail petition is denied, Kavitha will continue to be interrogated in Tihar Jail under the existing judicial custody.
