Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the names of the four pilots undergoing training for the manned space mission 'Gagan Yan'. Pilots โ€“ Group Captain P Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Ajith Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap, Wing Commander S Shukla were announced. The Prime Minister congratulated the four astronauts on this occasion. He said that he is happy that he got the opportunity to meet these astronauts today and perform in front of the nation. I congratulate them on behalf of the entire country. Today's India is a source of pride," said Prime Minister Modi in his speech. He said that India's success in the field of space is sowing the seeds of scientific nature in the youth of the country. ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒ


Prime Minister Modi visited the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala to review the progress of the Gaganyaan mission there. He was accompanied by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Minister Muralitharan and ISRO Chairman S Somnath. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ

Gagan An mission was India's first manned space mission. It is targeting launch between 2024-2025. The project hopes to launch a team of three into a 400-km orbit for a three-day mission, then land in the Indian Ocean and bring them safely back to Earth. ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒŠ

ISRO said in a statement that this mission can be achieved through a proper strategy taking into account the in-house expertise, experience of Indian industries, intellectual capabilities of Indian academia and research institutes as well as state-of-the-art technology available at international organizations. ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฌ

And ISRO has achieved a major milestone in the human-rated CE20 cryogenic engine powering the cryogenic stage of the human-rated LVM3 launch vehicle for the Gagan An missions. The last round of ground qualification tests was completed on February 13, 2024. This is the seventh test in a series of vacuum ignition tests conducted to simulate flight conditions at the High Altitude Test Facility at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri, ISRO said in a statement. ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ”
