Suryakumar Creates History as India's T20 Captain 🏏

Historic Win and Personal Achievements:

Suryakumar Yadav, the new T20 captain of Team India, has successfully completed his first series as a leader, achieving a 3-0 clean sweep against Sri Lanka. Not only did he excel as a captain and a batter, but he also played a crucial role with the ball, earning the Player of the Series award and setting a rare record.

Match Highlights:

In the thrilling final match at Pallekele, India clinched victory in a Super Over. Batting first, India posted 137/9 in their 20 overs, with Shubman Gill top-scoring with 39 runs off 37 balls. Contributions from Riyan Parag (26 off 18) and Washington Sundar (25 off 18) were also significant.

India was in trouble at 30/4 and 48/5, but a fightback from Gill, Parag, and Sundar helped them post a competitive total. Sri Lanka, in reply, was strong at 108/1 after 15 overs but could only match India's score, ending at 137/8 in 20 overs, forcing the match into a Super Over. In the Super Over, Sri Lanka managed just 2 runs for 2 wickets in 3 balls, and India secured victory with a boundary on the first ball.

Record-Breaking Achievement:

Suryakumar's superb captaincy and his performance in the final T20, where he took two crucial wickets, earned him the Player of the Series award. He has now become the second player to win the most Player of the Series awards in T20s, alongside Shakib Al Hasan and David Warner, each with five awards. The top spot is held by Virat Kohli with six awards.
