🏏 Hey cricket fans! Team India has landed in Barbados to play the Super-8 match of the T20 World Cup. On June 20, India will face Afghanistan. Due to rain in Florida, the final group stage match was canceled. Before that, India defeated the USA, Pakistan, and Ireland in the group stage.
India has played 3 T20 World Cup matches on the drop-in pitch in the USA. Now, the Super-8 matches will be held in 6 different stadiums in the West Indies. Scoring 200 runs is common in IPL 2024, but only twice have teams scored 200 runs on West Indies pitches—by Australia and West Indies. Out of the 8 Super-8 teams, only four have managed to score over 150 runs here.
Team India has started preparations for the Super-8 matches. During the nets, captain Rohit Sharma asked Jasprit Bumrah about the pitch conditions, and Bumrah seemed happy on the practice pitch. Based on the pitch conditions, India might make changes to their playing XI. Afghanistan qualified for the Super-8 by winning 3 out of 4 matches but lost to the West Indies on Tuesday.
For the match against Afghanistan, India might consider playing Kuldeep Yadav in place of spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. West Indies pitches favor spin, and Kuldeep Yadav could prove to be lethal. Jadeja hasn't performed well in the last 3 matches, both in batting and bowling. Hence, he might be rested. Additionally, only one of Mohammad Siraj or Arshdeep Singh may play.
