Today is Farmers' Festival Tholi Ekadashi!

Tholi Ekadashi is a highly significant Hindu festival that marks the beginning of festive celebrations. This special day falls in the month of Ashada and is considered the start of the festive season. According to legends, Lord Vishnu begins his yogic slumber on Tholi Ekadashi. Devotees flock to the famous Dwaraka Tirumala Chinna Venkanna Temple in Eluru district to offer prayers and perform special rituals with great devotion.

Authorities have made special arrangements for the influx of devotees, providing drinking water facilities and milk biscuits for children waiting in queue compartments. Tholi Ekadashi is one of the 24 Ekadashis celebrated annually, but the one in Ashada holds particular importance. It is also known as Shayana Ekadashi because Lord Vishnu is believed to rest on Shesha Naga in the ocean of milk on this day.
