🚨 Tragedy in Telangana: SLBC Tunnel Collapse Leaves 8 Trapped! 🚧

TL;DR: A portion of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Telangana collapsed, trapping eight workers inside. Rescue operations are ongoing but face significant challenges due to silt accumulation and structural instability. Authorities are working tirelessly to reach the trapped individuals, but concerns about their safety grow as time passes.

Hey folks! 😢 We've got some distressing news from Telangana. A section of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel near Domalapenta in Nagarkurnool district collapsed, leaving eight workers trapped inside. The incident happened about 14 km into the tunnel, making rescue efforts super challenging.

Initially, the rescue teams made good progress, but they hit a major roadblock due to 7-9 meters of silt piling up inside the tunnel. This silt buildup has slowed down the operations big time, and the structural instability of the tunnel isn't helping either.

Experts have now confirmed that the tunnel site has been stabilized, and debris removal has started. But it's a race against time as hopes fade for the eight men still trapped inside.

The rescue teams are using advanced equipment and have even brought in "rat miners" to navigate the narrow and dangerous passages. However, the risk to the rescuers is increasing, leading to temporary halts in the operation to reassess safety measures.

This tragic incident highlights the need for stringent safety protocols in large-scale infrastructure projects. The working class often bears the brunt of such disasters, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing their safety and well-being.

Our thoughts are with the trapped workers and their families during this difficult time. Let's hope for a swift and safe rescue operation. 🙏
