Lost money to an online scam in India? Keep 1930 and the official reporting portal handy
2026-10-28T12:21:24.623013+00:00
India’s Ministry of Home Affairs identifies 1930 as the helpline for immediate reporting of financial cyber fraud and assistance with the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. The official portal is cybercrime.gov.in.
If you believe you have lost money in an online scam, use those official reporting routes promptly. The portal asks financial-fraud complainants to have relevant incident information and evidence ready. Keep the transaction details and messages available when reporting.
A report is not a promise that money will be recovered. Do not treat a stranger’s offer of a refund as an official response, and do not send passwords, PINs or OTPs to people claiming to help.
This is a dated public-service guide, not a report of a new incident or a claim about helpline response times. The original Ministry announcement is from April 2022; the official reporting destination was checked again for this guide.
